the faint

I went to see The Faint last night (with The Fever and Beep Beep). It was a great show, although I actually found the video accompaniment to be so abstract as to sometimes be distracting. Todd Baechle was intense, and I was definitely standing right at the front of the stage the whole time. A very drunk couple of people came up and were talking to me. It turned out that one of them was a girl named Danielle who was a RISD alum and works with some photographer in Providence. She was so beautiful, but when I think back to seeing her all that stuck in my mind is a caricature of a person, with big glasses and teeth smiling in the darkness. It was odd, because I think I used to know her in junior high school.

That's the kind of thing that happens to me a lot now that I'm hanging out in my hometown.

I went by myself since Laura is working nights and Chris had class in the morning, which was fine. I'm pretty comfortable to be back in the ranks of the pseudo-quirkyalones.

This entry just goes to show that when I'm not angsting, I'm a pretty boring writer.

But that's okay. Work sucked, and I am ready to get some hardcore, one-on-one milk and cookies action before going to sleep early.

P.S. Lost in Translation was an incredible movie, although it's really not a comedy as some people have claimed.

Let me also note that rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the government. The Red Sox are, and will always be, my favorite team. And I know Dicky Barrett would have to agree (although he's in California, what's up with that?). They may break our hearts again and again, but we will keep coming back.

(I am determined not to talk about politics here, but if you haven't heard, there's some extremely important news here. Anyone who ever says to me that the media is "liberal" is going to get an earful.
