Summary: Akanishi Jin is the president of the student council. Being the president, he is supposed to be hardworking and can efficiently carry out things. Sadly, he's too lazy or sleepy to do his work that he thinks up of lame excuses to pass on the work to the other members of the club. The vice-president, who is the only person that can coerce Jin into doing his work is currently busy with his drama filming that the members decided to add a new member that would also act as a vice-president. Who will the new member be? Can he help Jin?

“Ehhhhhh?!!!!!”

Kazuya couldn’t believe it.

This…This idiotic looking person is the president?!

Unknown to Kazuya’s thoughts, Jin smiled at him. “So, since you’re new, why not hang out with us first! You know, to be familiar with the school.”

Kazuya had no choice. He had to hang out with this group of people. That is, until he finds other people who he can hang out with. He smiled, albeit reluctantly.

“Why not…”

Saying that, he was hauled towards the direction of the cafeteria by an enthusiastic Jin followed by the other members of the student council plus NEWS.

~~~
It wasn’t long before the group had bought their food and found a table where they now sat. It was quiet except for the clinking of utensil against the surface of the plate or the occasional banter that was usually seen within the members of the student council.
“…So, I was about to go there and- HEY! It’s gone! Who stole my meat?”
“It was most likely Jin.”
“Why you…Give it back, Jin!”
“Whaaaat? I did no such thing, Pi! And Tat-chan, don’t blame me!”
“We know you did it, Bakanishi.”
“Oh come on! Not you too, Ryo! If I did steal it, which I did not, what’s your evidence then?” Jin crossed his arms.
“…Maybe it’s the fact that your once empty plate has now the said meat on top of it…”
“…”
“AHA! I knew it! Hand. It. Over, Akanishi.”
Glare.
Gulp.
“Fine, fine!” Jin huffed, “You can have your beloved meat.” He miserably watched Yamapi retrieve the stolen meat and happily popped it into his mouth and chewed.
Jin sulked and looked away with a pout.
Meanwhile, the others who weren’t involved weren’t really much fazed at what happen due to the fact that it happens normally in the circle of friends.
Kazuya looked on at the scene with bewildered eyes. As he thought, they didn’t act nor look like people from the student council. And what’s more, he finds their president, Akanishi Jin was not only idiot looking but a complete idiot!
“So Kazu-chan…” Kazu-chan? Kazuya twitched at the nickname but looked at Jin nonetheless.
“Yes, Akanishi-senpai?”
“No need to call me Akanishi-senpai. Calling me Jin is fine!”
“…Jin, then…” Jin smiled at that.
“Since you’re new here, don’t hesitate to approach us, alright?”
“For once, Jin is right.” Tatsuya commented off-handedly, ignoring the indignant shout of Jin [“What do you mean for once?!”] and smiled at Kazuya.
~~~

“So Kazuya, what’s your reason for enrolling here?” Yamapi asked after the chaos had died down a bit. Yuya, Keiichiro, and Massu already left a few minutes ago, wanting to avoid trouble as much as possible.

As soon as the question was asked, all eyes turned to Kazuya.

“Well, it’s because this school offers good education, that’s why. That and, this school is the closest to our house.”

“That’s a pretty unusual reason.” Ryo offhandedly commented as he leaned back on his chair and took a sip of his drink.

‘Unusual?’ Kazuya thought that his reason was pretty normal. He frowned in confusion.

Beside him, Jin was fiddling with the buttons of his gakuran top absentmindedly, surprisingly quiet.

“What Ryo means,” Kazuya jumped at the sound of Jin’s voice. “Is that most people enroll or get accepted here because they believe they can share their talent in the showbiz industry.” Jin stated a matter-of-factly.

“So you must have some talent, Kamenashi. To be accepted in Akai Ito.” Ryo added.

Kazuya just kept silent; letting the fact that he was accepted because the school saw talent in him, sink in.

~~~
Riiiiiiiiiiiiing!
As soon as the bell rang, students who were inside the cafeteria or who were some place else went to their respective classes.
“Oiii! Kamenashi! I’ve been looking for you!” Kazuya turned to look at the person who called his name, expecting someone he knew; like maybe Keiichiro or Massu. But to his surprise, the person he saw was neither Keiichiro nor Massu. But it was none other than Takizawa Hideaki. Kazuya gaped as he did not know how the man knew his name.
“How-” he started, only to be interrupted by the group
“Takki!” The group, minus Kazuya, exclaimed.
“Heya guys! Busy with student council activities lately?” Takki asked the group with a friendly smile on his face. Turning to Kazuya, he handed him a piece of paper.
“Wondering how I knew your name?” Kazuya mutely nodded at Takki who, for some reason, was able to read his thoughts. “Well, it’s written in this schedule here…And, you’re an unfamiliar face. So I just knew that you were Kamenashi.” He helpfully explained as Kazuya nodded in understanding.
“Takki! We’re going to be late for our class!” Takki’s partner, Tsubasa appeared in the scene and immediately whisked Takki away.
A few minutes of silence passed.
“Well, time to get going as well…” Yamapi murmured.
“What’s your first class, Kazu-chan?” Jin asked, looking over Kazuya’s shoulder to see the boy’s schedule.
“Uh…I have voice lessons now…”
“Good luck!” Junno said making Kazuya wonder why he was being said good luck to anyway.
Tatsuya nodded in agreement. “The teacher never goes easy on the new students…” He mused.
Kazuya already looked a bit nervous just thinking about what if he didn’t make a good impression or what if he would be alienated from people?
He was shook out of his reverie by Jin who was waving a hand in front of his face, a worried expression on Jin’s face.
“Let’s go, Kazu-chan. You don’t want to be late on your first class now do you?”
Looking around, Kazuya saw that he and Jin were the only few people left in the hallway. He surmised that the others had gone to their respective classes, not wanting to be late. He followed Jin walk towards the classroom and couldn’t help admiring once again the familiar faces that he usually sees in TV.
He almost bumped into Jin when he abruptly stopped. “Well, here’s our class.” Jin said, reaching for the door knob. Kazuya gulped in both anticipation and nervousness and held his breath as Jin opened the door.
~~~

“I’m home…”

Kazuya collapsed on his bed tiredly. His body hurt all over and he felt like he screamed for ages with his now sore throat.

He felt like he has been to Hell and back. The teacher was hard on the new student. She kept making Kazuya repeat singing a part of a song until she was satisfied; which took a long time.

Kazuya was actually thankful for Jin during that time. Jin had sweet talked the teacher into letting Kazuya rest for a while. The teacher reluctantly let Kazuya rest his voice for a good ten minutes before the torture continued.

“Well…At least she made me even rest.” Kazuya said with a wince as he noted how hoarse his voice sounded to his own ears. And ugh, the dance class that he took together with Yamapi isn’t as easy as he thought.

He got scolded most of the time because, according to the instructor, Kazuya’s body is stiff and his timing isn’t all that right.

How can Yamapi and the others make it seem so easy?! Kazuya thought as he sulked, thinking how his classmates executed the moves flawlessly.

Kazuya sighed and stood up from his bed, ready to freshen up, practice his voice and dance a bit, eat, and then sleep…

He would do his best.

~~~
A few weeks later…
“All right. Class dismissed.”
The teacher announced, and almost everybody let out a sigh, happy that their lesson was finally over.
Kazuya was one of those people who were glad the bell had rung. Standing up and fixing his things, he walked towards the door, to be stopped by the instructor.
“Good work today Kamenashi. Keep it up.”
That said, the instructor left, leaving Kazuya to process what was just said.
Smile.
Finally, he was being recognized! Kazuya thanked the gods that he practiced hard at home.
He couldn’t wait to tell this to his friends!
Friends…
Yes, during the past few weeks, Kazuya had made friends from his class and from the higher levels. He supposed it was because of Yuya that he was able to befriend his senpais since Yuya seemed to talk to everybody he sees and sometime last week, he had dragged Kazuya to meet a few senpais.
To which Kazuya couldn’t refuse. He liked making friends after all. He entered the cafeteria and was not surprised to see Jin and his friends sitting on one of the tables, chatting about something funny, since Jin was flailing his arms wildly while Yamapi laughed at Jin’s expense.
Kazuya smiled to himself at the sight. He hates to admit it, but he got closer to the group as the days passed by and found himself actually enjoying being with them.
Sitting down beside Jin, Kazuya thought that he didn’t find Jin that unbearable anymore. He got used to sitting beside him, and even bickering with him.
“Hey, Kazu-chan! How was class?” Jin asked as he offered some of his drink to Kazuya.
“It’s going well. The instructor also complimented me today.” Kazuya said with pride in his voice as he accepted the drink with a grateful smile.
Kazuya also didn’t mind that he and Jin were getting closer. But sometimes, Kazuya still thought Jin was a complete idiot when it came to certain things that make him wonder if Jin was really older than him.
Kazuya passed back the drink to Jin and noticed that Tatsuya was looking at him. Kazuya offered a nervous smile in return. Tatsuya was nice and all, but Kazuya couldn’t help but think at times that Tatsuya has some creepy sixth sense wherein he would be able to see through him.
Kazuya broke the eye contact with Tatsuya to see that Yamapi had asked him a question.
“I’m sorry, what?” Yamapi looked a bit offended that Kazuya wasn’t listening but he repeated the question nonetheless.
“I said, do you want to join the student council?”
Everybody, including Kazuya, instantly snapped their heads toward the direction of Yamapi.
Silence.
“What are you saying, idiot? We can’t let a new student handle student council work.” Tatsuya spoke with a chilling tone that had Kazuya shiver involuntarily.
“Hime’s right. You can’t push all your work towards Kamenashi. It is unheard of a new student to be part of the student council anyway.” Ryo added. Kazuya didn’t know whether to take it as an insult or not.
Since he was pretty sure that he could handle something like student council affairs. He was sure, sure, very sure about it.
“But didn’t Jin get elected when he was a new student too?” Junno piped up. Kazuya sent him a surprised look before looking at Jin who had an unreadable expression on his face.
“J-Jin got elected as president when he was a new student?” I-It can’t be! I mean, there are other capable people who could take the position. Why Jin of all people?
“That was because nobody wanted to take the position and Jin was a candidate at that time. So…He sort of won by default.” Yamapi commented as he remembered the look on Jin’s face when he was elected to be president.
Kazuya just gaped at Jin who kept quiet the whole time.
“…And, we really need to find a vice president. My filming starts tomorrow. And by then, I wouldn’t be around that much to guide this Bakanishi here,” Yamapi stated with affection as he poked Jin’s cheek to which the latter slapped away with a pout, “to do his work!”
Yamapi looked at Kazuya with a smile.
“And I think Kazuya would be a good vice president, don’t you think?”
Silence passed over the table before a sigh was heard.
“If it gets Bakanishi to work,” Ryo growled, “And not get lazy…Then, I say we accept Kamenashi in the student council.”
“Well, if majority says we accept Kazuya. Then…We do.” Tatsuya decided.
Junno just smiled as a sign of acceptance to the idea.
“Jin, what about you?”
Everybody looked at Jin, waiting for his answer.
“It’s up to Kazu-chan if he wants to or not.” Jin looked at Kazuya intently, making Kazuya gulp and he averted his gaze to the table, suddenly feeling shy at the attention and stares he was receiving.
He somehow wanted to repay them for being kind to him and making him feel welcome in their group.
I can do this, I can do this, I can do this, I can do this!
When Kazuya looked up, he met Jin’s stare and the other’s expectant look with determination and clenched his fist under the table.
“I…I accept.”
