Hi!

Clueless (1995) - Cher Horowitz, Josh Lucas
Anything featuring Cher and Josh, specifically Cher/Josh, would make my day. Their UST-laced banter is the stuff dreams are made of, so anything set pre-movie, mid-movie, post-movie, would be amazing. Josh having an epiphany similar to Cher's, or the awkward burgeoning of their not-quite-incestuous relationship, or what happens between the kiss and the Geist-Hall wedding, or something about Cher and Josh as adults living together, maybe? (This is a universe where I love all of the characters, so any cameos - Dionne, Murray, Tai, Travis, Christian, Amber, Elton, etc! - would be more than cool with me.)

There are so many reasons this remains one of my favorite movies: the sarcasm, the slapstick, the unbelievably happy feeling you're left with at the end. What I love most about Cher and Josh are how incredibly good they are for one another despite their many differences. It might be fun to play up on that - maybe Cher is reined into hanging with Josh's "granola" friends for a while, and vice versa? (C'mon, seeing Josh forced into close proximity with Amber for any amount of time would be comedy gold.) This fandom is my go-to for joy, light, and glitter platforms, so I'd prefer a story free of angst, please.

Jurassic Park (Movies) - Ellie Sattler
Ellie Sattler is my queen, and there needs to be far more fic about her. Her adventures in paleobotany and general life after the InGen Incident, her working relationship with Grant on the digs (platonic or otherwise), somehow being roped into visiting the island years later with a weary disposition and a crew of wet-behind-the-ears misfits (JP IV starring Laura Dern? yesplease) - go for broke, I will read it all.

Gen, het (Grant, Ian, Muldoon - hell, even Gennaro if you're feeling silly and want to make it work; just really anyone but Mark, although I'm fine with that relationship if it's in the background and not too prominent), femslash (in this fandom, that might be difficult, but Sarah Harding is also pretty great), it's entirely up to you! I'm fine with movie or bookverse, or feel free to mash them up.

Ellie is basically my role model - smart, tough, witty, and amazingly brave. She takes shit from no one (unless you're a triceratops - har, har), and is very much a take-action kind of person. Any story starring her would make my life. I really have no preference between gen, het, or femslash, but I do have a particular fondness for Ellie/Grant and Ellie/Muldoon. (I wasn't kidding about Ellie/Gennaro, either - but I'd prefer the book version of their characters in that scenario.) If you can work it organically into the story, seeing Ellie trade shop talk or fight for survival alongside another female character(s) - Sarah Harding, grown-up Lex Murphy or grown-up Kelly Curtis - would be wonderful.

Like I said in my sign-up, I like both movie and book verse, but if you're interested in brushing up on or becoming acquainted with the latter (and need a reason to fall in love with Gennaro or Sarah), here are Jurassic Park and The Lost World at your disposal! They're lengthy but quick reads, particularly The Lost World, which blows the movie away.

NewsRadio - Lisa Miller, Bill McNeal
Something that captures the wry yet simultaneously goofy tone of the show would be perfect. Crazy ensemble gen with Bill and Lisa headlining, either separately or shipped together, would be amazing. This is another one of those rare miracle instances where I adore every single character. I'd prefer comedy over angst, but if you're more comfortable writing a more serious angle to these characters, go for it.

I'm gonna cheat and c+p from a previous year's letter, but it all still stands!:

I'd love a fun ensemble story focused on Bill and Lisa. Fighting over promo ideas? Conspiring against Dave? Bonding over Lisa's past smoking habit or their shared "babies - yes! marriage - no!" ideals? Bill/Lisa is my OTP, but I wouldn't say no to an equally awesome friendship story.

What I love most about the Bill/Lisa dynamic is her appreciation of his bizarre sense of humor when no one else, not even Matthew, seems to get or even tolerate it (her laughing about his "Guy Without Socks" Halloween costume when no one else is amused warms my heart), and his awe-bordering-on-adoration of her ruthlessness (the episode where he asks her to be his agent is probably one of my favorites). NewsRadio is a perfect sitcom in how it effortlessly blends its humor and its heart; there were no Very Special Episodes, not just because Paul Simms probably would have kicked NBC's asses for the very suggestion, but because there didn't need to be. If you can manage that pitch-perfect tone of the show without bordering on sap or angst, I will love you forever and ever (and ever).

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) - Sloane Peterson, Cameron Frye, Jeanie Bueller
A story focusing on Sloane would be lovely. Aside from some throwaway lines that were cut from the final script, we know nothing about her family or her home life. How did she meet Ferris and Cameron? What's her senior year like in their absence? Is she always as calm and cool as she seems? What's her relationship with Jeanie like, if one even exists? These are only suggestions, of course - take the prompt and run with it! Gen, het, femslash are all awesome, although if you do pair her with someone, I'm partial to either Sloane/Cameron or Sloane/Jeanie.

Sloane is the epitome of coolness and elegance, which can't be an easy balance for a high schooler to shoulder. I want to know more about her. Maybe there's a Sloane Peterson's Day Off, and she skives cheerleading practice to wax philosophical while breaking the fourth wall (and potentially other things)? I like Ferris and am definitely not averse to him showing up in the story, but we learn enough about him in the movie, I think - I'd like Cameron and/or Jeanie (and/or any minor characters - hello, Simone Adamley - or any OCs you dream up!) to be the bigger players in the supporting cast, if you choose to feature any.

John Hughes's original script - featuring plenty of dialogue that didn't make the movie - is here, if you're seeking further inspiration.

Basically, I adore you for signing up for any of these fandoms and will absolutely love whatever you write me. Rock on.
