Watchmen.
Wally, Janey, and (parts of) Jon.

"In any event, I never said 'The superman exists and he's American.' What I said was 'God exists and he's American.' If that statement starts to chill you after a couple moments' consideration, then don't be alarmed. A feeling of intense and crushing religious terror at the concept indicates only that ( Read more... )

well, christ.

you've only gone and taken a simple little plot device of a character and made them endlessly facsinating and lovable and hatable again.

and it's brilliant.

Thank you. <3 Man, I wish they'd delved more into Wally (and Janey) in the book like they had in the movie. It really emphasized that Jon had a life surrounded by completely different people pre-accident instead of just 'oh lol he left his girlfriend cuz she's old now'.

Chilling and brilliant. I like the second-to-last section especially. The contrast between Jon and Dr. Manhattan is a very interesting topic that the novel only brushed on, and it's nice to see an outsider's view of it here.

Thank you so much! Doc Manhattan honestly scares me way more than Rorschach does, and this was kind of the result of trying to figure out why.

I LOVE YOUR FANFICS! (And yay, you appear on my flist now. Awesome.)

The last line is awesome. I also love the idea of Janey being like Wally's big sister before the accident. Great stuff!

Eee, thank you! (SUCCESS.)

Janey totally screwed with Wally's mind when he was new at the base ("Oh, jeez, someone must have flipped the signs as prank! No, really, that's the men's room"), and you know it.

This is very pretty, very spooky. I feel so bad for Wally, and I love that you've fleshed him out a little. He was a bit of a ghost in the book, and I guess here it's like he's still a ghost, but a sad ghost with a voice.

In the book, he was basically comic relief against Jon/Janey drama in every single scene he was in (Glass was there for the accident instead of him), so it was a cool move on the screenwriters' parts to give him actual depth. And thank you!

Poignant. I really enjoyed this sort of outside-inside perspective deal. Sort of like Jon himself.

Thanks! One of the saddest parts about Jon's accident (to me, at least) is how the people who cared about him pretty much had to lose him twice.
