Depths of Me
Traveling along the starlit night, walking
Along the sidewalks trench and climbing
Branchless trees. I have come to a night
Where the homeless dwell and the Walkers,
Walk down, and up alleys looking for Johns
To rapture.
I was drunk this night, and still thirsty for
Something else I wanted to take every part
Of man and rape him. Kill him and bury him
Like a bone, for some cat to find. But Control
--yes my conscious conscience controlled the
Cradle of pockets-and I left well enough alone
My damning thoughts.
And instead of taking that money on-
Needless sexual intercourse-I brought
A boy a meal, a little homeless boy
No older than my brother, or your brother
--our brother-yes! A faceless child full.
I watched him as he drank from a cup
And bite into the bread, the reddening of his
Cheeks and the fullness of his heart
I traveled along the starlit night, walked
Along the sidewalks trench and climbed
Branchless trees, to find a homeless child
In need.
