Fraggle Rock rewatch

Aug 03, 2019 23:39

I FINALLY sat down and started rewatching Fraggle Rock this morning. I asked for the 35th Anniversary blu-rays for Christmas but just haven't made the time. Since I'm all caught up on Queer Eye and Dark, I needed a breakfast show for my quiet mornings. I figured I would document the experience a bit to see how this show holds up so many years later ( Read more... )

LOL same? But I knew I loved it so I asked to get it. I watched the winter episode every Christmas "The Bells of Fraggle Rock" and it always makes me cry. I just miss the positive force that was Jim Henson and Co.

Omg I remember Fraggle Rock! I didn't watch often but when it was on and I was home, I'd usually have it on.

Yeah, I have no idea how much I watched it, I'd have to ask my Mom because I would have been pretty young so "appointment TV" wouldn't have been a thing yet for me LOL

Dude, I absolutely love this post! I watched Fraggle Rock as a kid too, though in Norwegian. It also seems I've only ever seen the first season, because the Norwegian national broadcaster could only get the rights for that for some reason.....

Anyway, your thoughts spell things out so clearly, I clearly remember watching these episodes, but I never really gave any thought to the themes or what they were trying to teach kids. This is awesome!

In the final moments of the show, Wembley and Gobo are back in their home, getting ready for bed. Wembley apologizes to Gobo and says "It didn't seem like I was a slave. I guess some slavery feels like freedom." He also says that he didn't realize what they (the Gorgs) were doing to him until they did it to his friends.

Damnnnnn. This is so deep on so many levels. Current kids' shows pale in comparison wow.

That's odd that they never got the rest of the series but they got season 1!

I watched the next two episodes and it is interesting what Henson is hinting at? I'll definitely post about them since you enjoyed this post!

I watch "The Bells of Fraggle Rock" every Christmas and it always makes me cry. More deep thoughts from a children's show, thoughts about traditions and faith and kind of spiritual but in a very non-religious way? I dunno, I'll type up better thoughts when I watch it again. :)
