Though reading reviews really shows you what different people value in their hotels. I think people that travel more for business will pick on a hotel room's TV and what not more.
That's always something you have to look out for when looking for any place to stay in. People will just automatically look at the review scoring to see what the majority rate it, but you have to really investigate what their actual complaints are. Some of them are legit, but other times it's about personal preferences that they have issues with that are rather silly to give a one-star rating to. So it's always advisable to do thorough research when finding the right place for you.
For some reason B&Bs just freak me out. I guess I prefer the privacy and anonymity of a hotel.
I do like the aesthetics of certain B&Bs, but I don't think I would stay in one. If I want to stay in someone's house for a time while traveling it would be someone who we know or know by proxy instead of paying for a stranger's place, y'know? I respect the practice and business of running B&Bs, it's just not something that I would voluntarily do, personally.
omg there was one 1-star review that someone gave because the person messed up the booking and didn't know they had booked the hotel in Canada not the U.S. and they were mad the hotel wouldn't just honor their other booking. I was like "how is that their fault???"
