OMG WHO HAS WATCHED THIS?? WE NEED TO DISCUSS!
The reason I think we're not seeing much chatter online about this fantastic show is that you don't want to give away anything so you can't say a whole lot. So most conversations go:
"Have you seen DARK?"
"Oh, yeah, I just started watching it"
"...what episode are you on?"
"Oh, the one where [spoiler happens but not mega spoiler]"
**nods knowingly** "Well, you need to watch the rest. I'll talk t you in 8 hours, BYE!"
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1
"DARK" is everything I love and hate about time travel stories. I mean, seriously, how can any of this get wrapped up ever in any kind of logical way? I started out comparing it to 'Stranger Things' and 'Riverdale' because of the 80s elements and the small-town-with-too-many-secrets storyline but now I am throwing 'Lost' into that mix, which makes me panic because 'Lost' had an epic first season and then went on to crash and burn. So here is hoping the writing team has a plan and wasn't just hoping to be cancelled after the first season!
SO MANY QUESTIONS!
Did they change the timeline? Is Jonas now in an alternate 2052 or is this the 2052 that everyone else was trying to avoid? I assume this is the one Old Jonas and Old Claudia wanted to change, and the fact that Jonas just lept into Old Jonas' bunker, already filled with his photos and notes, means that maybe he did manage to jump somehow? But, then again, Old Jonas *knew* he wasn't going to die in that room so was this always meant to be?
Same goes for Young Helge! There are now TWO of him in 1986 and we have not seen a middle-aged Helge in 2019 so can we safely assume this is new? Or does Noah kill him trying to send him through time?
WHO IS NOAH? Is Bartosz going to become Noah?
And does any of this matter because Hannah is still a crazy bitch that wants to take down Ulrich even after all these years LET IT GO!!!!! I'm scared of her and that gun. I mean, it has Aleksander/Boris fingerprints on it still, right? If she shoots someone with it, would they still find his prints? They are going to find hers, she is playing with it so much.
And *when* is the clockmaker? I guess we are supposed to think he died before 2019?
And when does Claudia decide to "fix" things? I think that is the major sequence we are missing now, Claudia's story after she finds Gretchen and realizes that the caves have these links to the past.
Fascinating and frustrating and I'm sure Netflix will take its sweet time getting a new season out...though hopefully not too long because those kids are going to grow up!!!!
