Adonis, listen- what is this?
So uncomfortably content
in this miserable happiness
The streetlights growing brighter
in the darkness of the clouds
reflecting from the damp concrete
and the silhouettes of the trees
Relax, dear, rest here
in the stillness of the night
Breathe deeply into me
melt into the street
where the children play in
the summer's warmth
and run into the rain
That chills your skin with
fear of perfection
reality and expectations
words that you don't wish to hear
Adonis, are you like them, dear?
Crudely harsh and real, I fear
uncertainty, emotion
ambiguous decision
You tried it once and made it habit
So choose for me
though I must object
I take it back, all I have said
I miss detachment, innocence
I remember now what could have been
When I, so weak and concientious
would hide behind your painful wishes
then grew into honest, insightful
once learned, progressed
and fallen again
Adonis, how could you
make me into this?
giver of such perfect wishes
to torture me with all you've given
but rest here in the dawning light
rest here, dear
you have just what you wanted
a moment late
