In the empty studio she stood in her gray dress facing the mirror she raised her arms and began to dance step by step she strode across the wooden panels never taking her eyes off the reflection in the mirror she did a little pirouette and the dress flared like the petals of a flower in full bloom but the color of an overcast sky she was beautiful she leapt and poised her hands and looked into the mirror begging don't lie to me tell me who I am tell me where we are tell me you love me say you're not lying because the mirror shows the exact reflection it shows her desperate dance but mirror mirror why can't you show me the truth she screamed and sank to the floor you can show me my face but you can't show me my heart and you can't show me his and you can show me the cuts I make on my wrist even as they're fading away but you can't show me the hurt behind them you show me the world but you can't show it to me she ran headlong and dove into the glass and it shattered around her staining the dress and the now broken world reflected in her eyes a sorry crimson she is beautiful
