Hoop #1: "
Sweet Tart" Hoop from
Hoopnotica.com. It has reflective pink foil, semi-iridescent white tape, with pink and yellow vinyl tape. The white parts glow in the dark. It's hanging in my bedroom so it also serves as a sort of hoopy nightlight. :-)
Hoop #2: "Creativity and Optimism" Hoop from my
Austin Hoopers friend Michelle I. It has shiny orange foil with orange and yellow vinyl tape. It is super-sparkly in the sunshine. I love it because it looks like candy corn. (Three guesses as to what I'll be doing this Halloween!)
Michelle also makes aromatherapy hoops. You have to see (and smell) them to appreciate their awesomeness. She brought two of them to
today's meetup: "Prosperity" (green foil and green vinyl tape with mint leaves inside) and "Tranquility" (blue and purple vinyl with lavender inside). As you hoop, the leaves rub together, resulting in a pleasant, non-overpowering scent. It's delightful.
I still have a "nude" hoop (no tape on it) from the
Austin Hoopers' hoop decorating party some months back. Michelle keeps eyeing it and has offered to tape it up for me, but I simply can't decide what colors and whatnot to put on it. This is clearly one of those situations where I need to hand it off and trust someone else to work their magic (literally, in Michelle's case) on it.
Speaking of hoops...I finally bought (half) of the hoops I will need to teach official Hoopdance classes. I went with the
Hoopnotic TravelHoops, because:
1. They will fit easily into a small car.
2. They have soft, foamy tape with makes them very easy for beginners to keep around their waist and prevents newbie brusing.
3. They can be adjusted one size down for kids/small adults or increased one size for tandem hooping/large adults.
4. Relatively inexpensive at $39.95/each.
5. Colors which are the right amount of girly for gals (gold foil w/pink tape) but not too girly for guys (silver foil w/teal tape).
