Hooping, Acrobatic Yoga
The very first Austin Hoopers Meetup was a lot of fun. The gal who made my hoop, Lolly, came up from San Marcos. She brought some homemade hoops and shared String Cheese Incident, bluegrass, and funk music from her classic iPod. Gretchen, who had never hooped as an adult, also showed up. She was doing pretty well by the end of the session. Completing our group was Randal, who also brought hoops he'd made. He told us about this thing he does called acrobatic yoga. It's simply amazing. To me, the contrast of the dark bodies against the light from the window suggest Chinese script or Kaō. Very beautiful.
