"You are too young to put all of your hopes in just one envelope ..."

I've been writing a few letters here and there and remembered how much I like it. Anyone up for being pen pals? E-mail me at orangenish (at) hotmail (dot) com. (And Laura could you do it regardless, because I need your apt address to send that pet store coupon.)

philomel posted this game in her journal:
i. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
ii. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
iii. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

She assigned me the letter "W."

"Waiting for the Moon to Rise" -- Belle & Sebastian
Sarah Martin takes a turn at singing. If I knew of any indie kareoke places, I'd get drunk and do this song.

"Wise Up" -- Aimee Mann
I've been downloading and enjoying so much Aimee Mann lately that I got four of her CDs out from the library last week. Too bad I wasn't assigned the letter "V," because "Voices Carry" is seriously stupidcrackmusic.

"Wolf" -- Veruca Salt
Oh God, the harmonies. Makes you wish Louise and Nina would patch things up. Just wait for the reunion tour when they both go broke.

" Wrecking" -- Laura Veirs
I missed a chance to see her a few weeks back and I'm still kicking myself about it. She studied geology and Chinese in college, which explains the Asian-y (to use the technical term) instrumental at the end. No word yet on when the sound of rock hammers will be used. This song's the last one on her latest album, "Saltbreakers." Both the song and the album were real growers for me, but now I love them.

"Why So Looking Back" -- The Most Serene Republic
I think I got this from
le_clap, which is a comm devoted to songs with hand claps. Awesome.

I realized I had a million more "W" songs. Here's a list of what I have; comment if you want me to upload any.
