what a sad day

alex the famous african grey parrot died today at only 31. i'd write a whole book about him if i only had the time, and then those of you unfamiliar with him (and dr. irene pepperberg) might understand why it's so tragic to have lost him, especially so young. it breaks my heart. his death saddens me as much as the loss of harriet the tortoise (collected by charles darwin, lived to be over 200 years old and was a friend of mine at australia zoo). i'll write more when i have a minute, but i don't have many. i drown in physicsbiochemworkgreprepvetschoolapplications and don't sleep or eat much. in the meantime, try to check out the video and read the couple of articles i stirred up if you can.
