Now, it wouldn't have taken much for me to love the new Star Trek movie, so of course it blew me away. The true testament to the movies bodacity though, is that my boyfriend Shawn loved it as well. Hell, he wants to see it again. In a more expensive IMAX viewing. Without a coupon this time. He is decidedly NOT interested in the sci-fi genre. And yet he had nothing but praise.
ok, so it was in large part due to the near perfect features of Chris Pine...
I'm more of a Zachary Quinto fan, but Chris Pine comes in a close second. I do have to wonder about Shawn's supposed dislike of sci-fi, since he did question why Spock and Uhura were a couple in the movie, if in the TV show it was Kirk and Uhura who shared a kiss. Then again the only reason he knew about it was in the context of it being the first interracial on-screen kiss. Which brings me to one of the things I liked most about the movie, that with Spock and Nero having travelled back in time, altering the timeline, the writers can now basically rewrite history to a certain extent. This will be interesting.
Now for more ogling...
