I was just making a cup of tea in the lunchroom where I work (the "homey" part of the office) and I noticed that there is magnetic poetry on the refrigerator. THe pieces read: "success", "improve", "team", "outstanding", "achieve", and, my favorite, "110%". It was a CORPORATE version, so that the employees can write inspirational work-related poetry. Like maybe:
"Never forget to follow your dream of giving 110%"
Does that strike anyone else as kind of insidious, kind of "what's wrong with this picture?"
And by the way, on the subject of the emperor's new clothes, I bought some "white tea" at Trader Joe's which is supposed to be this rarefied delicacy in the tea world, and it just tastes like regular old green tea. Or maybe it's just my plebiean palate.
