A public poll

OK so I know the only thing I ever post about these days is the New Years Party, but I have a question for you all. Tippy has very graciously offered up her house for the party instead of the hotel in Portland but we wanted to see what everyone would rather do. It would be cheaper and maybe more relaxed at Tippy's, but it removes us from the ( Read more... )

OK. Since I've rang in many a New Years in this hotel complex, I can tell you this. There will be 2 beds and a hide-a-bed. There is a full kitchen and, at least in the rooms I've booked, a moderate living space and upstairs room. In terms of size comparison, it's about a Jewett room in the kitchen and living room plus a small bedroom downstairs and loft bedroom upstairs.

The hotel makes the person checking in sign a no-party policy, but in my experience, as long as you're not breaking things and screaming, it should be ok.

I think Tippy's place will be a lot more relaxed and there'll be just as much floor space but less beds. So it will be less accommodating for sleeping (unless there's an orgy in Tippy's bed), but this night is NOT ABOUT SLEEPING.

I do think the one drawback is that we'll be away from the Portland party scene. That means no fireworks at midnight (if we wanted to head downtown) and that we can't hit up a bar. But also in my experience, it will be crowded downtown and with a big group like us, could be disatrous.

So I think I vote for Tippy's. I threw that idea out there in the first place. Those are my two (or four or six) cents. THOUGHTS?

I don't care a wink about being near Portland. Bars = teh suxors especially on a night like New Years. Also it's cheaper at Tippy's. Tip Tip ftw! Also I asked this elsewhere but it was a really old post so is it ok if Paulina comes?

My place is right off of I-5, and I am in fact closer to Portland then ever before. You take the 2nd exit (Mill Plain) after you cross the I-5 bridge. People who need exact directions can AIM, e-mail, facebook message me, etc.

Also I have no sympathy for snooty Portlanders/Portlandians who won't cross the river. I loathe driving in Portland and yet I do it to see my friends all the time.
