(and yes, I've been excited to post with that subject heading all week.)
Is it wrong of me to say that grad school is kind of easy? Granted it's only been a week and a half, but so far things are more than manageable. Boy, I'm glad I'm not in law school or some other real graduate program. Museums are the way to go! Also, it's pretty fun. One of my classes has a lab that involves learning how to properly measure paintings and how to pick them up without dropping them. So far, I'm excelling!
As for the people, everyone in my program seems pretty nice and most of them are even pretty cool, which is good cause I was afraid they would all be huge dorks. That said, I'm yet to really make a friend in the program. I think part of it is that I have a small social network in Seattle already (ok, so it's Ryan and Kim...) so I guess I'm not really motivated to put myself out there and make friends. Still, I guess it would be nice. It's just so hard to get to know people when you only really get to see them in class. At Whitman friend making was taken for granted, but in the real world (and by real world i mean grad school) it is so different!!
Last notes:
1. I found out today that I have bronchitis. Last weekend I caught a cold which quickly morphed into scary, violent coughing fits so I finally saw the doctor and sure enough it was a secondary infection. Hooray! But it did give me a good excuse to take the day off from work and school and sleep for five more hours.
2. People I lived with in Walla Walla: Remember that super delicious BBQ sauce from Montana I was obsessed with?? I finally tracked down the brand via very strategic Google searching and ordered myself three jars of the stuff! It came yesterday and let me tell you, it is just as amazing if not more so than I rememebered. Receiving that BBQ sauce in the mail was probably the single best thing to happen to me in at least a week.
