Depressing song lyrics

Sep 22, 2005 11:52

Since everyone is posting depressing song lyrics, I thought that I would post one of my favorites. It really is a beautiful song, by one of the finest poets ever to come out of queens. It is written in a foreign language, called "The Infamous Mobb-bonics" or "The Dun Language", which is a language that basically formed out of ignorance and illiteracy. I will attempt to translate it into "English" for us, so that we may see the true brilliance of the passage. It is entitled "Hell on Earth", by Prodigy of Mobb Deep. You might want a box of tissues handy if you are the emotional type.

-Yo, the saga begins, begin war - Yo = Hi. He is about to tell a story

-I draw first blood be the first to set it off - He wants to be the first talk

-My cause, tap all jaws lay down laws - This means his main purpose is to enforce laws and injur people. Fascinating!

-We takin what’s yours we do jux rush the doors - He likes your material possesions. Jux = New Yorks youth, usually carrying guns for the purpose of Robbery. They sound sad

-Here come the deez tryin to make breeze and guns toss - Deez = Duns or friends. I think the guns references mean they are going hunting, possibly for deer or Elk

-In full force, my team’ll go at your main source - I think he is threatening me
We’re not tourists, hit bosses and take hostage - He is possibly alluding to his status as a terrorist, possibly Al-Queda

-Your whole setup, from the ground up we lock shit - He is saying him and his friends control everything

-Blood flood your eye, fuck up your optics - He is saying that it is hard to see with blood in ones eye. Interesting

-Switch to killer instincts for niggaz pop shit - While he is obviously very nice and gentle, usually, when "niggaz" aggravate him, he becomes slightly Psychopathic.

-Yo nigga noyd what’s the topic? nine pound we rocked it - Noyd is a friend of his, nine-pound = 1994, when there first album came out. He says it was highly popular

-Ninety-six strike back with more hot shit - This CD is pretty good, also

-Illuminate my team’ll glow like, radiation - His "team", radioactively, will help people see. Possibly he is trying to be helpful to the person with the blood in their eyes. What a good Sumaritan. A real Boy Scout

-With no time for patience, or complications - He is not patient and trys to stay pro-active and efficient

-Let’s get it done right, my click airtight - He is very close to his friends

-Trapped in a never ending gunfight so niggaz lose stripes - People get demoted in this gunfight. He is like a Cowboy apparently. What an exciting life! A real Rennaisance man!

-Or lose life, jail niggaz sendin kites to the street - In a very spiritual way, he is saying Death is very natural. People in jail try to find out how things are going on the outside

-Over some beef that wasn’t fully cooked, finish em off - E think he means his steak was a little rare at dinner, and he would like to go for seconds.

-Well done meat, that said twenty-two slug to your head - This is actually pretty angry. He shot someone. He is trying to incorporate a little drama into the poem

-Travel all the way down to your leg - The bullet would go all through the body. I hope he doesn't mean me.

Have good day, everyone. Toodles!
