Confusion, independence and moonpies.

Yesterday was the fourth of July... yays! How excellent. We didn't really go anywhere but here, generally we have these huge family get-togethers with up to (and sometimes more than) 50 people. And they're usually so fun, well, mostly. Older people hanging around talking and sometimes playing bidwist (eh, it's a card game that old country black people play), little kids running around my great grandmother's house playing hide and seek, my cousins playing video games or cards or just sitting around and talking, and the food. Oh yes, the food is always lovely. But this year we didn't have any of that. This year it was just me, my Mom and my sister at home sitting by ourselves. Nothing is wrong with that, nothing at all, I just kinda miss the way that my family used to be, really strong and together, you know? A big, cohesive unit... now it's all, blah. It's not totally gone to hell, though, there are lots of us that are trying to keep it together as best as we can.
Oh yeah, we went to see fireworks Friday night. It's this thing that Columbus has called "Red, White and Boom" every Independence Day weekend, it's nice, but I was watching the Macy's fireworks special and wow... that made our crap look like some bootleg shit, for real. But you know, NYC is much bigger than Columbus, so I'm not going to worry over that. It was a good time, anyway. Well, that is... except for the freaking 3.5 hour wait for the 20minutes of fireworks! >( GR!
Other than that this weekend has been spent hanging around, sleeping, watching tv and talking to friends, which is how I like it.
Oh, and I opened up my site again, so you can enjoy that.
Yay!
