TV-Blogging: ELEMENTARY (Episode 2)

Super quick half-assed review of Elementary.

Oh my god, the second episode of Elementary was sooooooooo awesome.

I know for pilot episodes, they film it and then show whatever network or production or whatever you call them first, and then continue filming once they get the "O.K.". Which is the reason why some shows have different looking sets in the first episode and the rest of the episodes.

I don't know if that was the case for Elementary, but either I'm warming up to the show, or I'm feeling an amazing, very good, and spectacular difference.

The pace was good. The crime was sneaky and made me think. I've warmed up to Sherlock and now understand a bit more about why he does what he does. And I'm a huge fan of those silent, theatrical, literary scenes (the one with Sherlock looking at his violin and being all tear-y and then playing it in the end).

Also, I'm loving Sherlock's ass-ish-ness with the "not listening to crap because I need the brain room" and his burning of the violin. And when he set up Joan with her ex-boyfriend like a big dick that he is and not wanting to be nice-nice friends with the woman.

Sherlock is like a little kid to me and Joan is the mommy that can't quite control him but at the same time, has his tail in her hands. I wish she actually stabbed him in the tigh with that tack!

As with the crime, it was very interesting. And at first, I thought it was lame and pretty straight forward (Neighbour stole the goods after the ex-wife/girlfriend/lover killed the man). But then it just kept going and going and Sherlock and I just kept hitting dead ends (yes, Sherlock and I because I'm trying to solve this thing too!). One thing that BBC Sherlock had, was being able to see things through Sherlock's eyes. I wish we could have that more here but that would just be outright copying the latest British drama and we can't have that.

It seems Watson is slowly becoming a badass but still holding onto the companion and care-giver and mother-hen aspect of her job. Also, 80% of the time, she's just there and could just be another detective within the force and nothing very special to Sherlock. I'm hoping they do more with Joan but I see this episode was focussed more on Sherlock and trying to unravel what the fuck happened back in London.

As with the new Anderson (whose name I cannot remember at the moment), I like him. He's cool. I hope he keeps on disbelieving Sherlock and continues being naive and not understanding the brilliant mind that is Sherlock Holmes. There must always be an Anderson!

I went on IMDB and... I see there are only 3 episodes listed. Not sure what that means.
