Well, seeing that I'm pretty much done with my first year at Alma..I figured I'd go with what Murphy did..and write about what I've learned from my first year here in farm town.

~The friends who you think you can trust at the beginning, tend to be the ones who stab you in the back the quickest.
~Alma is HARD. Just because I go to school in the middle of nowhere, these profs know what they're talking about...but at the same time want to make sure you understand it as well.
~Having Dr. Ball as my advisor is the best thing that ever happened to me here!
~When maybe kissing/making out/hooking up with a guy..ask if they have a girlfriend, because from my experiences..guys like to leave out that little detail.
~If there's someone you want to talk to, talk to them..don't wait until second semester to really develop a friendship, because all of a sudden..they're gone for the summer :o(
~I'm good at softball..but so is everyone else here, and everyone else that we play!
~Make your own opinions on people, and don't go by what everyone says about a particular person.
~Even though you have a roommate, it doesn't mean you have to be best friends with them
~Having your heart broken sucks..REALLY bad.
~If all of a sudden you can't feel any of your body, and the room is loud as a rock concert..you should be done drinking, or you might just kill yourself.
~If you need to speak your mind, don't hold it in..just say it, trust me..I suffered for entire semester and then some because I didn't.
~I'm friends with the girls that I would least expect to be friends with
~Even though not being able to drink in season sucks sometimes, it's sometimes even more fun going out being the one of the only sober people at a party.
~I've learned that I need to make the initiative when it comes to A LOT..especially studying and meeting new people, they're not going to come to me!
~I have the best high school friends, and keeping in touch with them this semester has made it so much easier..especially when they can help make fun of this place with me.
~If a guy says they want to hang out or go out sometime, that means that you have to initiate the phone call or stop by their room, remind them, ask them again, and make all the plans.
~Softball really is the best thing that's ever happened to me, from when I first started to now.
~Praying consistantly helps..my life is definitely a lot less stressful and makes more sense.
~I've found so much help here, if it's personal or academic..I'm surrounded by great people..from friends, to Dr. Ball and Dr. Chase, I can't be afraid to ask for help, or admit that I don't know what direction to go in or if I don't know the answer.
~There are people out there who will try to ask about certain situations with friends, so they can turn around and tell that person..but it's really easy to pick up on.
~Although people can still be judgemental..it's a rarity here.
~According to Kay and Em..naps are an essential part of surviving college..so is coffee, 7-11 runs, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, and bags of ice.
~It's NOT necessary to have over 15 hooded sweatshirts, 6 pairs of jeans, 4 pairs of khakis, and a million different white t-shirts here..along with all my others clothes that are here.
~A person's smile really can make you weak at the knees, especially if they have the most amazing eyes that light up when they do, trust me..I tripped.

So pretty much, Alma has tought me SO much, and I've learned so much about myself..what my strong qualities are, and what my weak points are..which I will be working on this summer.

But at the same time..nothing beats my amazing friends from home..and I can't wait to see everyone again!
