Gene and I went to New Orleans over the weekend for Southern Decadence. It was my first trip ever to New Orleans. Gene had been many times, but most recently in 2001, before we had met.
It's an amazing city, I loved the architecture, especially in the garden district. While the French Quarter is mostly dirty and smelly, it also has lots of great little shops and courtyards. I enjoyed the street musicians but wasn't overly impressed with the food. We took a day trip to visit some 19th century sugar cane plantations on the Mississippi.
As far as the decadent part of the weekend, I greatly enjoyed seeing lots of hot guys walking around without their shirts, and at times with even less. Certainly my first opportunity to witness hand-jobs and blow-jobs in the street, and even more in the back room at the Rawhide.
We were part of the decadent ducks group, who all stayed at the same hotel. The Omni, which had a great roof top pool, where there were several pool parties.
My major disappointment was that I was only groped a few times. I was expecting a major grope-fest that just didn't happen. A few times I was rejected by guys, and virtually no one was interested in me. Gene and I talked about this some on the way back, my facial expressions and body language tend to be standoffish, making me unapproachable. I'm also so horned up and viewing everyone as a piece of meat, that I'm not really relaxed either, he also thinks I need to work on my warm chatter.
All in all it was a enjoyable time and I look forward to going another time. Not only to the city, but also for Southern Decadence.
