Since I've improved my manga coloring a bit, I thought to make a manga coloring tutorial. The basic style.
Program: Adobe Photoshop CS2
Elapsed Time: 1 hour
Fandom: To-LOVE-Ru
Difficulty: Easy! Very basic.
Tools: Brush (3px-7px), Selective Coloring, Color fill, Saturation
⇒
1. Set off your base, crop it whatever you like. I like HQ scan more, so I took the base from BleachExile rather than Onemanga's scan.
2. Color all over Lala's hair, color it wildly, but not too wild. XD;; I suggest color the character's hair first, because hair is generally hard to color, really ;;;;;
3. Erase the remaining colors outside the hair area. Use the eraser tool, around 3-4px or so.
4. Now color all over her skin. Pick a good skin color tone.
5. After coloring the skin, now try color her clothes. I'm generally bad at remembering character's clothing color >____>;; So you have to pick a reference image.
6. Then, color her eyes. (I left Peke's uncolored)
7. Oh, the cherry blossom petals are still uncolored! We should color it now.
8. Finish? Not yet! Make a new color fill layer with #dfdbde (or any light-medium toned gray color) and set it to multiply. It depends on the base color though. I set it to multiply, 70% opacity.
9. Pick the selective coloring layer.
REDS
Cyan: -100
Yellow: +100
And now, boost up the saturation (in hue/saturation layer) to +10.
You're finished! \o/ And urk, sorry for the horrible result >____> I made in a rush.
