A candidate actually outlining a thoughtful economic plan that doesn't involve blank checks to shady financiers ? And asking the American people to read it ? God, it's like this guy has confidence in us or something.

COME ON PEOPLE, LET'S DO THIS THING.

Not bad! I wasn't totally comfortable with the 'spending billions of dollars rebuilding their country when we should be rebuilding ours' - I mean, you guys do have a responsibility towards Iraq now - but other than that, awesome! Better than awesome. A candidate who personally addresses the people in an ad instead of filling it up with wolves and scare tactics? Whaa? :D
American politics continues to be as exciting as ever. :-)

I agree that we do have a responsibility to Iraq. At least Obama's plan includes a planned withdrawl, because there's got to be a thoughtful compromise between abandonment and perpetual occupation !

American politics are EXHAUSTING. ;)

I'm upset that 13% still don't know that he's Christian and this he's Muslim. There was an ed piece on the use of religion as a cover for racism this morning in the New York Times.

I saw that ! It's maddening. I mean, aside from the fact that seriously, who says we can't elect a Muslim candidate in the twenty-first freaking century; it's a quite obvious smear tactic used by the right because they've already built up Muslims as a false bogeyman. And yes, a big part of it is a deep, ugly racism.

My mom's been talking to people at her church about it, encouraging them to actually read up on him. It's heartening that even in a fairly small-town-minded place like where I grew up, people want to hear the facts (and plenty of them are already big Obama fans !)

There's got to be one somewhere...

...I KNEW IT. http://www.barackyou.net/

I am already rocking an "OBAMA 08" shirt that looks like a sports jersey. It's soft and awesome.

RIGHT?

I really, really like that he's actually focusing on telling the people his plan instead of just debasing McCain's ideas and campaign. I feel like he's running so that he can set his plans in motion instead of just running to be president.

That's a perfect way of putting it. His policies aren't pandering- they're not playing on your fears, but on actual long-term visions for the future. It's... fairly radical, I think, in the current climate. ;)

Go you, volunteering ! I hope it's a huge success. I keep running into the "have you registered to vote ?" volunteers on campus and giving them a thumbs-up.
