Weekend in LA was nice ... hung out with friends I hadn't seen in 1-2 years ... a lot of driving around looking at the city, drove out to Palmdale for a bit, had a picnic at a beach up in Malibu - great spot, parking in a neighborhood, walk down a stairway, and there's a quiet little beach area with a few families around. Only odd part was a sharply over-dressed older guy with a lovely-looking younger women, also overdressed for a walk up and down the beach, the guy was rather intent on taking a good look at the beach patrons behind oversized sunglasses. My friends spotted him as Gabriel Byrne, but I wouldn't know - they remembered him as 'actor in 'Cool World' -so I googled that on the way home
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000321/ I read 'Blink' on the plane trips out and back, a fun-fact book about thinking skills, and who has the ability to use them to success

I got my car back this morning, I had tried the neighborhood independent tire/maintenence place, mostly because it's walking distance, and getting to and from the Honda dealer is a relative pain in the ass - and they always recommend bullshit repairs, which in recent years I've said 'no' to, and miraculously the next time I bring it in, the problems have taken care of themselves and they don't recommend those repairs again, only a different set
Anyhow, I knew I needed 2 new tires. Average in-stock 13" tires, Goodrich, installed at $150 ... oil change, inspection - they said that I needed my drivers side window fixed up so it would easily rolldown all the way to pass inspection. soulnded expensive, it was $99 to open the door up. I told them okay to any repair up to $150. Miraculously they fixed it for $150, plus $20 in shop supply fee and the bottom of the bill. The window has been like that for years and passed. oh well, at least the window rolls down easily now. $370 for everything, so much for saving a few dimes over the dealer repair shop.

Tonight I joined in on a group run that the local running store, Pacers, organizes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm, I'll try to keep that up for the summer - I am so out of shape. The 4.25 miles (plus the maybe .4 it took to get there) I could barely keep up with a 10:15/mile pace
