He and Peter have a wonderful scene as they prepare to begin questioning the denizens of the Bellona Club about the General's death; Newark manages to look quite offended when Ian Carmichael tells him he's too tidy to be a journalist, a comment that's borne out later on

If that's General Fentiman's poppy, it does exist in the novel and is an important plot point.
If it's somebody else's poppy, then I have no idea what's going on. *g*

Phyllida Law. Lovely. I am so fond of Marjorie Phelps. This is one of my favourites for the Parker/Wimsey interaction. How was that in the film version?

Pretty good, though not as much fun, IMHO, as MURDER MUST ADVERTISE. There's one amusing scene in which Parker eats Peter's breakfast (I assume to escape having another set for Great Ormond Street, which is how the book did it). Also, there's a long scene between the two of them when Peter is wearing a simply gorgeous dressing gown with big skirts and turned back cuffs and some wild pattern all over it.
