It is more difficult than I would have expected to find books in English on Belgium in World War One. The ones there are, I am pretty sure I have found already. But I am bemused that there are so few.
I suppose it's because most of the books about the trench warfare there focus on the British soldiers.
I wish someone would translate the memoirs/diaries of some of those Belgian soldiers who were stationed in the flooded areas. I would learn Flemish, but I don't have time to both do that and finish the novel in time.
I am currently lusting after this book. Which has no relation to the current novel at all, but oh, the story possibilities that are waiting for me!
