That is also true. I admit, I have met far from everyone and only know what I read on the journals. I'm amazed at all the different sorts of creatures here.
Where I come from, humans are a scientific classification. Homo sapiens. There are other sentient races with their own distinct species, and genetic lineage.
Here, I'd say it depends on how people classify themselves. I wouldn't try to impose the system from my universe on a being from another universe entirely, unless they wanted me to.
We've explored about 8% of our own galaxy. It's very large indeed.
Their diversity is too great for me to be able to describe them with any accuracy. Where I come from, humanity is in contact with numerous other species, all of which have their own histories, languages, and cultures. Biologically, we are also all quite different, although some species bear more resemblance to humanity than others.
That is indeed a large world! Most I'm hearing about have a few species at most.
But from what you say, it seems a common trait is that they have some sort of society with a history, a language and culture. Maybe that is a part of what makes us different from other creatures.
A human is judged by their actions, as any other creature is. But there's a point when a man can nae be called human anymore. Or rather, it would be convenient were it so, then ye could be excused from those who commit the atrocities against their own kind.
I agree there is a various level of intelligence, and animals and monsters are capable of intelligence also, it may not be in ways we understand though.
The monsters in my world aren't that intelligent, but the do have some intelligence. They can choose to help a human or attack it for instance. And then there are basic instincts and all.
