Big Day for the Taliesin!
Today, I had the pleasure of taking my sister and my nephew (who is now 6 1/2mos. old!) for Taliesin's first trip to the park.
About forty minutes up the mountain is Blowing Rock Park. It holds very special memories for both Kelly and me. I still have a picture of me and my best friend hanging upside-down on the monkey bars at age fifteen (sadly, those particular monkey bars are no longer there).
Taliesin had a lot of firsts today. First time playing and trying to eat mulch. First time sitting at the top of a slide, letting his mama help him slide to the bottom (twice!!!). First time on a swing by himself.
The swing was the BEST! At first, when I tried to put him in the bucket seat, he cried. Then Kelly took over. She's such a great mom. I had the start of tears in my eyes watching Taliesin get a feel for the swing as his mama started to push him. I had a vid-cam in one hand, a digital camera in the other trying to capture as many moments as I could -- all the while almost completely blinded by the sun.
After the swings, we had a little sit-down on some blankets. The wind picked up, as it tends to do in the mountains, and Tal wore his new crocheted hat his Grandma Smith made him. Of course, it's Carolina blue! He had his sunglasses on, just chillin' out. As soon as I get the pics/vid - I'll share.
