I've been so busy lately with real life, but I had to comment on a local boy DONE good. And yes, that's my Southern coming out to play.
Madison Bumgarner of the San Francisco Giants just pitched a hell of a Game 4 in the World Series, making history as the fourth youngest pitcher to win a game in the WS (he's only 21). Madison hails from Hudson, NC, which is where I was born and raised. (Wiki says Lenoir and that's where I am now). He went to South Caldwell High School, where I went. I'm so damn proud of this kid coming out his rookie season in the Bigs and pitching with nerves of steel.
When the interviewer asked him questions and that deep Hudson accent came forth, I laughed with joy. My community needs some good news and a reason to cheer.
Lately we've been on Nancy Grace with the missing Zahra Baker case. Yes, that's where I live. Hell, I think the couple lived about 4 minutes from my sister's house. Helicopters flying over the area have been a frequent site, plus national news crews posted everywhere.
So, we needed a reason to say to the world, hey, something great just came from here. Look at our boy man go.
