To get here? I think it's about $1000 for a two-way ticket. That's without any kind of discounts or special travel rates, so it's potentially even cheaper.
Yeah, it's a dream. There are lots of very dreamy places here. Not all of them as inexpensive as the place I've described, but apparently they're quite affordable for people who are paid in dollars or euro, at first world pay scales.
The Flight is still too much for me to afford right now, but I'll certainly keep it in my mind as a vacation destination.
Yeah, I give thanks every day I get to work, even when it's on a non-union pay rate just doing background in a film or tv show... it's $10CDN/hour to sit around and do basically nothing.
Seriously today my day consisted of this: I flirted with some beautiful women [and walked away with 2 phone numbers!], ate some snack food, played cards [a game called cribbage], had a delicious lunch, and got to hang out on the set of a new tv show.... and was paid union rate for it, so about $20CDN/hr and a minimum of 8 hrs paid... we were there for about 5hrs...
Wow. I bet it's a bundle to get there though.... Sounds like a dream.

I guess you're on a roll? Or is this typical? (in which case I should move to Canada and switch careers)

For sure, come on over, you can crash at my place for a while! I'm sure you could get a lot of gigs 'under the table' drumming and such too....
