Long Overdue Post

So, the last few weeks have been good. I've been getting gradually better to the point that most of the time I'm experiencing no pain at all from the surgery. Hopefully this trend will continue.

Right now, my focus in life is two-fold. I'm eagerly awaiting my trip to Kentucky at the end of the month to meet up with Samantha. (Hi babe!!!) We talk on ( Read more... )

Glad to hear you're feeling better.

Yeah, it can be extremely hard to get back into the habit of being creative if you haven't been for a long time, I know all too well. I think the trick is to make it part of your routine. Put aside some time and do something, anything, on a regular basis.

I've also found it very helpful to have other people involved. If you're just doing stuff for yourself you've no-one to disappoint, but if there's someoen else expecting you to come up with the goods, I find it's easier to get motivated.

The problem right now is that my artist is way behind on getting the art finished for issue one of the book, which is discouraging. To be fair, he has been going through a lot and it's not like we had a deadline, since we are doing this on our own. Still, a project can lose momentum and die if it isn't constantly pushed. I'm just going ahead and write issue two and plot the series out for at least 50 issues. I really believe in the project and one way or another it will come to fruition.

My buddy Jamie is fortunately very good to give me a swift kick in the arse when I get slack. lol

and it's not like we had a deadline

I find it's always useful to have a deadline, even if it's just self-imposed, because I'm really bad for procrastinating and a deadline helps me focus. It can also energise me and make me do better work.

I'm beginning to find that true as well. I also find that I almost have to take the phone off the hook when I work. I'm a social person by nature and if someone calls I make myself 100% available for them.

I finally set a deadline for the art to be done, as I'm going to a convention in September, and I'd like to be able to get some feedback from professionals there.

I hope having the deadline helps and you get it all pulled together for the convention. :)
