more whacky weather and this time I was out in it

Feb 27, 2004 13:14

after the events of yesterday afternoon I have come to two conclusions:

1) how hard the Caltrans people work and forrestry personal out in the field,no matter what the weather.

2) I am so freaking ass lucky to be here,I mean this campus is just amazing, the sceneary, wildlife, classes, people.

Anywhoo half way through the afternoon it really started raining, the lab was to find two section corners(property boundary markers) and note them etc. Alot easier said than done, those little metal hubs where tiny:P It was alot of fun slogging through the muck, brush and leaves.

Near the end it started hailing and snowing for a few! Of course I was happy:p being the girl from Southern CA who hasn't seen half of the weather up here. Ended up at the St Charles bar in historic Columbia(the bulding's been there since 1857) for drinks, peanuts, pool and talking with our prof. Brett challenge me to game of pool on an antique pool table,it was intresting and he still won:P Warmed myself up by a huge cast iron stove(including my soggy field notes). Mr Carkeet started playing ragtime music on the old piano,he's very good.

Slept in till 12:30 this morning,I was exhausted but in a good way. Came down here to use the net.
