I admit that the current right wing today has about zero ideas that I can get behind, and I just don't have a lot of patience for it anymore. But at the same time, for the most part I'll just skip over comments I just want to reply to with ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME, because why pick a fight just because we're on opposite sides of an ideological divide?
I think the reason comments like you posted happen in the general "men suck" posts, and why the "but I'm not like that" comments aren't too well-received, is because ... well, people don't always know that. I've heard "no, I'm DIFFERENT, I'm not like THOSE guys, no really i swear" a LOT ... and 2/3 of the time, it's total BS, and they are just like those guys, so that comment really just gets the side-eye. But that's me personally, and I can't speak for everyone else. (And obviously, if it's a commenter I know, that's a little different ... but that's sort of the point, I guess.)
That comm really is extraordinarily oversensitive sometimes though, damn. OMG YOU SAID YOU HOPE RUSH LIMBAUGH DIES YOU'RE A TERRIBLE PERSON. No, I'm not a terrible person; he is. That's why I want him to drop dead. But it's totally cool to say everyone in the military is a dehumanized asshole who hates all them brown skinned people, or something.
