While I don't tend to go the 'MEN SUCK' route in those posts, I've certainly seen them. And yeah, at that moment in time, agree with them, but not in a generalised fashion. More in a 'I agree, that guy named in the article must be a massive asshole' way.
But that's just me.
Although, thank you-I've never actually thought of it that way. And I hate to say it, but for me and for many, many women, we've been brought up to believe that the privileged (white) male, while he may have feelings, won't feel bad when we trash his gender. Because frankly, in my experience, men can do no wrong. No, really. I've always experienced this, but recently working on film sets has exposed me to this tenfold. Especially when I'm the only female on my team.
...ok, that was a very long-winded way of explaining how truly unfair life is to women in the workforce.
But at the same time, it's not like us with vaginas can get a free pass. Yes, in times when we read stories of gang rape and female bodily torture, what springs to mind is a nice, caring woman who is almost saint-like. Which, while fair to the situation (no woman is responsible for rape, etc.), isn't always fair to our entire sex. Just like saying that the man who did the raping is representative of your entire sex.
and now I'm not sure where I was going-I took a break at one point and ate some cookies-so I'll just leave this here :)
