And now I behave very geeky and not nerdy in the least.
I hoped to do some posts introducing the fabulous game of Heroscape, but I need to put some ideas in an accessible place before I see my homies. Thus, LiveJournal. Here's the short version:
The Premise: It's set in Valhalla, and the Big One is here. The Valkerie generals summon warriors from across time and space to battle for them, pitting elves against Romans against undead against secret agents against vikings against cyborgs. There is also a Marvel Heroes suppliment, which is of course my focus.
The Game: Players build three dimensional battle ground out of hexagonal pieces, select armies based on point values, and then duke it out based on attrition or some stated goal. An army unit may consist of a powerful hero or two to four less powerful squad figures. All said, game play is like a simpler version of Hero Clicks.
Purchasing: There are two $50 Master Sets which start you off with the rules, 1000-2000 points worth of armies, and plenty of terrain. Additionally there are Large Expansion sets for around $30 with either specific terrain (castle, ice) or five large figures (dragons and giant killbots), and Small Expansion Sets with a handful of figures for $10. Nothing is blind packed.
Thus far, the Marvel Heroes are the most powerful pieces, ranging from the 150 point Venom to the 370 point Hulk. Usually an army worth over 150 is a rarity. Thus, when Thanos and the Silver Surfer take the field, they change the game dramatically. Thus, more Marvels are needed to keep up. Besides, I just plain love super heroes above and beyond any other scifi/fantasy/history component. (But still, DUDE! Macedonians and Templar knights versus werewolves and cyborg guerilla gorillas!)
So here is my proposition for a Fantastic Four Large Expansion. Dr. Doom and the Surfer were already in the first set, so the set would include the F-4, Namor, Super Skrull, Annihilus, and the Black Panther. Also, the Thing's Dramatic Entrance power necessitates a destructible object of some kind in the set. Any ideas on an appropriate object?
If no explanation is given for a power, its description can be found at the
Heroscape webpage. Mr. Fantastic
Human
Scientist
Precise
Medium 5
Life 4
Move 6
Range 3
Attack 2
Defense 5
Super Strength (common among Marvel Heroes)
Cyberclaw (Gladiatrons)
Rod of Negation (Morsbane)
Notes: Reed should be a low cost support piece. He's ineffective as an attacker but his Defense along with his Cyberclaw can keep an opponent in place until a friendly attacker can deal with the enemy. He can also survive long enough to shut down some major heroes with his science-fu. Around 150 points.
Invisible Woman
Human
Mother
Resolute
Medium 4
Life 3
Move 5
Range 5
Attack 3
Defense 4
Stealth Flying (Empress Kiova, others)
Improved Defense Aura (SotM Raelin)
Notes: Sue is also low cost and improves the defensive capabilities of the whole team, thus saving points on Life and Defense and keeping them under 1000 points total, probably with enough to spare to have a 100-200 point team-up. Sue should be around 100-120 herself.
Human Torch
Human
Adventurer
Wild
Medium 5
Life 5
Move 7
Range 6
Attack 4
Defense 3
Flying
Nova Flame Special Attack---Range 1 Attack 8. The Nova Flame attacks all figures adjacent to the Human Torch. Human Torch rolls once for attack, then each figure rolls defense separately. After using the Nova Flame, place two wound markers on the Human Torch's army card.
Notes: Johny is a fast attack piece who should be 150-200 points. He's vulnerable and can burn out quickly, but he can take out priority squads and heroes early on.
The Thing
Human
Creature
Angry
Medium 6
Life 5
Move 5
Range 1
Attack 6
Defense 4
Super Strength
Tough (Gorillinators)
Clobberin' Time Special Attack---Range 1 Attack 4. If the Thing targets a destructible object with the Clobberin' Time Special Attack and inflicts at least one wound marker, that object is destroyed. The Thing may then move up to two space to the other side of the object.
Notes: Ben Grimm should be 200 to 300 points and is an enduring melee attacker. His Tough power and assistance from Sue keep his Life and Defense lower than would otherwise be necessary.

Black Panther
Human
King
Tricky
Medium 4
Life 5
Move 7
Range 1
Attack 5
Defense 5
Climb x2 (Marrden Nagrubs)
Phantom Walk (Shiori, others)
Cat Fall--- The Black Panther is immune to all falling damage.
Notes: The Panther is a quick melee fighter. Height is due to the figure being in a crouching position, and it enables the inexpensive Climb x2 instead of Stealth Leap. All said he should be worth 160-200
Namor the Submariner
Atlantean
Prince
Ferocious
Medium 5
Life 6
Move 5
Range 1
Attack 5
Defense 5
Super Strength
Flying
Water Tunnel--- as Swamp Water Tunnel (Marro Drudges)
Water Strength--- as Swamp Water Strength (Marro Drudges)
Notes: Namor is designed like a Drudge on PCP. He's fast and powerful when in his element. 200-300 points.
Annihilus
Tyannan
Conqueror
Nihilist
Large 7 (two space base)
Life 8
Move 6
Range 6
Attack 7
Defense 7
Super Strength
Flying
Chomp (Grimnak)
Notes: Annihilus is a nightmare, designed to be the most powerful piece made to date. 400-500 points.
Super Skrull
Skrull
Champion
Arogant
Medium 6
Life 6
Move 7
Range 6
Attack 6
Defense 6
Super Strength
Stealth Flying
Improved Cyberclaw (Major X17)
Nova Flame
Notes: The Super Skrull is meant to be a high cost figure in the range of Hulk and Thanos and reflects the strengths of the entire Fantastic Four.
