Last night Jesse and I took the MARC train up to Baltimore and saw the Orioles vs. Angels at Camden Yards. Camden Yards is as sweet as they make it seem. We sat behind these dumb sorostitutes from someone unknown college (seriously, we had never even heard of it) who danced like sluts at a club each and every single time anything resembling music was played over the loudspeaker (they especially loved it when they played "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent: "OMG, girls! It's FITTY!"). They also stood up and did their sorority chants from time to time, which I really loved because it blocked the entire view of the field. But hey, they're cute girls, so they have license right? Everyone loves the hot girl troop?
Whatever man. Everyone around was screaming at them to shut up, except for two douchebag guys that both looked like Summer's boyfriend from Napoleon Dynamite, who kept talking about them in voices that were a.) loud enough to distract me from the game; but b.) quiet enough so the girls didn't actually hear them. So, Mr. Tough Guy A & Mr. Tough Guy B were "tough" enough to tell the girl eating ice cream "To suck that cream, baby" but not "tough enough" to actually go up and talk to them, which meant that I had to put up with their vocal douchebaggery all night.
Of course, I shouldn't talk: I was the one that kept saying
"Boom goes the dynamite!" during each home run.
But I got to visit another ball park. We went to RFK maybe two weeks ago; it sucked and so did the Nats but it was a good time nonetheless.
Oh! So I met the man Tony Kornheiser a few weeks ago. I saw PTI being taped and it was quite amazing. I've developed quite a man crush on him and Mike Babcock.
Speaking of Babcock, Wings playoffs start next week! It's looking like the Oilers or the Analmunch in Round One. The Oil are somewhat scary -- they've got a deep team, they're young and physical and fast, but who is really scared of Dwayne Rolosson at this point? Dude could very easily get hot b/c he is a good goalie, but doesn't seem like he's found his bearings in EDM yet. Colorado would be interesting. We owned them in the regular season, but I think perhaps Jose Theodore could be the goalie to get hot this postseason. Actually, I think its Cristobal Huet, but JT is a good pick as well. Colorado actually scares me less than EDM, but the chances of playing them are probably 30% at this point.
Last weekend I was in Duluth because Baba is in her final days. Its quite sad, but it was very nice to be up there with her. She seems like a drugged out child. She was very coherent at points, not so much at others. Her pneumonia is stabilized but not curable. It's just a matter of time (most likely days at this point) before she goes... so say a prayer for the family.
I leave D.C. next weekend. Joe's coming down to get me, and then it's back to Detroit. It's been a good run and I'll be sad to leave. I'll probably have an emotional re-cap at some point, but right now I've got too much else to think about. When I get back, it's home for a week and then graduation on the 29th. That just seems superfluous at this point, although I do get a nice lunch at Real Seafood Company out of it (as opposed to Fake Seafood Company). I'm doing a March of Dimes walk in Troy on the 30th because my dad is the new voice of the March of Dimes (if you haven't heard, he's got his own commercials on WJR and is likely going to be named the head of MoD in Detroit soon). Then Monday, May 1 it's back to the grind at GDLS. And back to an income.
Right now things are just hectic. I'm about 60% with my end of semester assignments. I'm done working at AEI now. That was a nice experience. I got to eat filet mignon twice this week at a goodbye dinner and final lunch. Tonight I'm heading out to Fairfax to eat dinner with G-Pap and Kim and then we're going to church + brunch tomorrow for Easter.
Finally, I'm really hooked on the Economist and learning about free trade and globalization. My summer project is to learn the stock market. I'm a huge, huge nerd.
