Golden? Silvery? Foreman couldn’t exactly decide what shade of blonde Chase’s hair was. Actually, to be honest, he wondered if it was his natural shade. He knew that last year his hair had been sort of a dark blonde but after the summer, everything was lighter and blonder and longer. Foreman had a weakness in that hair of Chase’s. He wondered what the difference was.

He knew he’d been to the beach over the summer. Chase had a light tan and a new coffee mug that was emblazoned with Saint Tropez. Must be nice to be able to vacation in the south of France. Foreman had spent his own vacation back in LA with his parents and friends. He’d gone to the beach once or twice, but it just didn’t suit him the way it suited Chase. He imagined Chase as one of those who walked along the beach just glowing…knowing he was in his element. The sea probably calmed Chase…it was something familiar.

Still, there was the question of whether or not the golden tresses were purely natural and enhanced by the sun or if Clairol lent a hand in their development. Champagne. Yes. Champagne. That had to be the color…or had been. Now it was lighter. Foreman looked around the conference room: Cameron was busy answering House’s mail again, sending back all of the subpoenas per his request. House figured if they wanted him in court they could physically serve him papers. Chase was out, doing rounds in ICU since one of the regular staff was out that day. Foreman was on the laptop, one tab opened to researching adrenal gland tumors and the other rapidly clicking through shades of Clairol hair dye.

He wasn’t Bamboo. Or Ash. Foreman was getting irritated when he finally found the perfect mix of silver and gold: a perfectly golden straw color entitled Sunrise. Sunrise suited Chase. He’d always been a morning person, up and alert far quicker than Foreman or Cameron. Yes. He must dye his hair with Clairol number four. As Chase came back in the room he mentioned something about their adrenal gland patient, leading Foreman to rapidly close the hair dye tab and switch back to his research on the effects of tumors on the heart.

Chase bent closer, the light scent of his cologne reaching Foreman’s nose and it was everything he could do to not sigh slightly. Chase always smelled of summer days and sunshine, if summer days and sunshine had a particular olfactory receptor. Foreman turned his head slightly, gazing at Chase’s hair when he noticed that the roots were darker. Light brown, even. Chase wasn’t natural.

Sadly, Foreman wasn’t terribly disappointed. He liked Chase even when his roots were showing.
