New PC time
Looks like I need to get a new gaming machine.
I've been researching a bit, reading reviews and pricing peices out, this is the system I am looking at.
System behind cut.
Case: Raidmax Smilodon ATX-612WBP w/500 W PSU - $60
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 - $170
MB: Gigabyte Ga-EP45-DS3R - $140 OR ASUS P5Q Pro - $140
Memory: Corsair XMS2 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) DDR2-800 - $75
Video: Sapphire Radeon HD 4950 1 gb - $180
HD: WD Caviar SE 320 GB 7200 RPM 8 MB Cache Sata 3.0 Gb/s - $60
Optical: SAMSUNG Black DVD/CD Burner - $28
Total: $713
or, if I go with the ASUS instead of the Gigabyte mb before the end of Sept it's $678
EDIT: OS: Windows Vista 64 bit Home Premium. - $100
So, questions I have. How important is the Cache size on the Hard Drive? The 8 MB seems low, but with 4 GB of ram, I'm not sure how often it will really matter.
Also, any comments in general on selections? Looking for input on motherboards especially or something people have had bad experiences with.
