Worked like mad on Friday trying to tie up as many loose ends as possible. It was my last day in the office before the wedding. I'm taking this whole week off from work (Hallelujah!).
The Friday night show at Orchard Valley Coffee went well. Few screw ups, but not many. Not too many people there to watch, but enough to feel like I wasn't just playing for myself. The other band surprised Sarah and I when they played "Paradise" - a decidedly Philmont song. She and I waltzed to it on the dance floor.
Saturday and Sunday (oh, and today too!) - ran a mad load of wedding planning errands. I'm really freaking tired now... Our apartment is overflowing with weddingness. Oh, and the apartment complex told us today that they plan on showing our place to some prospective renters. Ha! Michael told them that that was fine, but that they'd be lucky to get in the door with all the stuff we have all over the place.
I just found out yesterday (while I was shopping for rehearsal dinner shoes) that the deacon who was going to marry Michael and me will not be able to attend the wedding at all. His mother-in-law is very near death. It's always sad to hear someone being sad, but it's so much worse when it's a person who is normally so full of joy and love... Doug is that kind of guy. Fortunately, since we have planned on having a full Mass all along, the priest performing the rest of the ceremony will be able to marry us. It was aweful hearing him cry and I totally ended up crying with him right there in the Nordstrom shoe department.
I finally got ahold of the company that I was trying to order necklaces from for the bridesmaids. They neglected to call to let me know that they were unable to get the pendants I'd asked for and neglected to return my phone call when I called to ask about them. Thanks for calling me about my order, World Beads, I really appreciate it. Whatever, I found different necklaces as a shop in the mall. They're not what I would have picked if I were not under the gun, but they seem to be fun. Plus, I was able to find lovely shawls for the ladies today. Sarah brought her dress with me to Thai Silk in Los Altos. We found shawls that match perfectly.
Met with Bijan, our baker, today. Got to taste some more cake. Damn, he's good.
Some silly pictures of me in the outfit I plan to wear to the wedding reception:
Silly White Girl. Took my wedding gown to the cleaners today to have it steamed - $92. Ouch. Oh well.
We have printed out tons of historical family wedding photos to have around the reception. They look so great!
