Weeds and Paralysis

Somehow I injured my back this week. The first day, I was not able to move and was in screaming pain. Now it is a constant ache that spikes when I turn the wrong way.

But the worst part is not the pain. It's the fact that I can't do anything! No lifting, no strenuous work, which is essentially everything. My house is disgusting - I desperately need to clean but I can't even lift the vacuum cleaner. My lawn is out of control, but I can't mow. I did finally find someone to hire to mow it, as the weeds are up to my knees. I'm sure my neighbors are hating it.

The only good thing about not being able to move is that I feel less guilty about spending hours catching up on reading fanfiction. Tee hee hee - especially since so many good fics are out right now.

I am trying to ignore the temptation to shop online, as I am still trying to pay off the bathroom remodeling work that I am in the middle of doing. Of course, it is at a standstill since I can't lift anything to work. I was hoping to tile the floor last week, but oh well. And the drywall guy hasn't called yet to come over and do the work.

The plumber, who was an exceptionally nice man, has finished his work. He was very worried about me, having a daughter the same age, and thinks I need to have more fun. So he left his daughter's phone numbers so I can call her to go out. Wasn't that sweet?

I saw a gold finch yesterday. I haven't seen one in a long time and they are one of my most favorite birds. I need to find some seed that will tempt them near my house. Unfortunately, I have a plethora (would you say I have a plethora of pinatas?) of starlings who eat every I put out.

I am going to drag the laundry downstairs so I can get something done. And then maybe go grocery shopping. Maybe.
