Fairwell to Sutcliffe ...

In a matter of hours, I will be on the move again.
One year is my track record to stay in any given place. This time, I give up the family "dacha" by Pyramid Lake for a full-time pied-a-tierre of sorts in Sparks, the St. Paul of these twin cities. The common joke goes something like, "Reno is close enough to hell, you can see Sparks." Lovely.

My clothes are packed, the coffeemaker and tea kettle stand prepared, my DVDs ready, the TV/VCR/DVD player will be removed in the morning and the computer goes as well. Then, I wait. I will wait for the cable guy to install my digital cable and Internet so I can be connected to the world again, full time.

Perhaps a week, maybe more until I have regular Internet access, so until then, it's all cell phone and ... that's it really. Just the cell. So if you think of it, before 11 a.m. and after 8 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, Sunday through Thursday, feel free to call and we'll jibber-jabber as long as you can afford it. Until then, maybe a few trips to the library to post, if and when I can.

Very strange, this feeling of independence, it's like the first day of school. It was almost a year ago that I gave it up for a time of healing to be with my family. While it's been rough and there have been times I recited lines from "Sloop John B." by the Beach Boys, I am grateful for my time with them. They've taught me the true value of patience and accepting life as it unfolds and not forcing it to change its course to suit my own, selfish purposes. But it's time to take what I've learned and apply it to my own life once again.

Wish me luck!
