Have I mentioned how much I love everything Nick Drake, no matter what the form may take?

Because I do.

I've always thought of Nick Drake as my own personal songwriter. For every occasion, there is a song. For every feeling from facetiousness to self-righteous indignation, there's always a tune that I can find and match to my mood.
I guess my next big book purchase will have to be a biography of him [seeing as how I've read everything Wikipedia and his estate's Web site has to offer]. Also, I am excited that
"A Skin Too Few: The Days of Nick Drake" was screened in the U.S. this year and I believe is being released as well. Although it's not even an hour long, I think it's something to keep my eye out for.
Although I'd heard of him before 2000, for me, it was that damn VW commercial with "Pink Moon" that solidified my need to buy his albums. It's the only limb I've gone out on where I have absolutely no buyer's remorse. He just kind of captivated me from the start. Back in the day, I had a Scottish Internet friend who recommended a lot of movies and when TMC would do their Indie-flicks/foreign films. I forget the name of the movie now, but I do remember "Cello Song" being the song that got my attention.
There's a lot I could say about Nick Drake, but I'll stop gushing [for no reason evidently]. Basically he changed my life in that he's given me a lot to think about with his lyrics and composition. There's always been speculation surrounding his whole life basically. From his withdrawal, severe depression and ultimately his ruled suicide. There's even speculation about his sexuality, but unlike say, Darren Hayes, I couldn't really care. I'd still love his music and want to unravel his mysterious life regardless.
Maybe it's a solidarity thing.
On my worst days, I sleep a lot. On his worst days, he's go disappearing, no one knowing where.
I work my problems out by writing, he created sonic masterpieces.
He's always been my personal musical saint.
... is all.
