CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Oichi (お市) from Sengoku Basara 3

In-Game Name: Oichi, no family name given because she can't remember it.

Age: Unknown. Oichi has amnesia, and most records if there were any, were lost in the fire. Looks to be in her early twenties.

Gender: Female

Position & Ship: Passenger (Convoy)

Appearance:
Oichi is a delicate, slim woman who always seems to radiate an air of sadness. Her hair is long, black, waist length and kept meticulously neat and shiny. In contrast to her hair, her skin is very pale. She has a very pretty face and when she looks up at people through her long, black eyelashes she gives the impression of being rather helpless and sweet. She hardly looks at people though, usually she is looking downwards and hiding her face behind a curtain of black hair. When someone can actually get her to look up and pay attention, her black eyes usually start to drift after a while and she ends up staring at something only she can see. She dresses in pinks, reds, and black with a smattering of white.

Personality:
After losing her sanity and her memories, Oichi acts very much like a young child. She trusts people unquestioningly, and is truthful to the point of being unthinkingly cruel sometimes. She doesn't have many of her own opinions, choosing instead to adopt those of the people who are kind to her or give her orders. Disobedience doesn't come easily to her, and she's usually more than ready to be reprimanded for something she did or failed to do. More than anything, she wants to please the people she's given her trust to, and will follow orders without even pausing to consider how they might affect her or anyone else. When being put into situations where obeying orders could lead to her being abandoned however, she usually talks herself out of following the orders even though she may have already agreed to do what is being asked. Her emotions and likes are very clear cut and simple, and usually based on the likes and dislikes of the people she trusts.

Oichi's moods can be very clearly separated into mellow, violent, and sad. Mellow is the transition point between the other two. When Oichi is in this mood she's very obedient and sweet, often doing things for other people because she believes it would make them happy. She displays wonder at seeing things she's never seen before, and people she's never met but this is usually short-lived because she is easily distracted. Anything that reminds Oichi of her old life, or of things she has lost can make her mood swing suddenly to either extreme depression or violence. Unfortunately, lots of things remind her of her old life but she's less likely to have mood swings if she hasn't used her powers lately. And if she has, she's more likely to swing towards violence. She has a very negative mindset when it comes to dreams and working hard to achieve your dreams. As a result of her life crashing down on her before her amnesia, Oichi believes that her dreams (even though she can't remember what they are) have been shattered and lost along with that elusive thing she's still searching for, and as such views other people working hard for their dreams as a nuisance (that usually sets her off). She is utterly convinced that no matter how hard you work, it will all blow up in your face and then everyone will die, leaving you all alone.

Oichi doesn't usually call people by their names, usually preferring to call them by the animals or things they remind her of. She likes referring to herself in the third person as "Ichi".

Abilities/Weapons:
Oichi's powers manifest themselves as thin, smoky-looking, long black tendrils with an arm-like shape ending in a clawed hand that she can control with her mind. They can freely range in size from around 5 feet in height to much taller that that. The arms seem to be sentient to some degree, able to sense when Oichi is distressed and do their best to comfort her. Oichi can control where they appear, but they are limited to a three meter radius around her. There is no limit to the amount that Oichi can generate, and their generation rate is also very quick. The arms do not change form, so Oichi generally uses them as blunt weapons for punching and can use arms in conjunction with each other. Two hands used in conjecture can crush a fully grown man. Since Oichi has to control the arms with her mind, thinking about each and every movement, the arms are not particularly fast-moving, but have a deliberate, unstoppable force if you can't get out of the way. The clawed fingers can, to some degree, damage people who are not properly protected but are generally ineffective against people wearing armour. The arms can also be destroyed with weapons, and Oichi can feel the blow, even though it doesn't really affect her and just serves to make her annoyed.

Oichi is also skilled with a naginata, but she lost hers after the fire and no one she has met so far is really inclined to give her a nearly 7 foot long pole with a sharp thing on the end. It's also doubtful whether she even remembers that she had a naginata in the first place.

How well can your character hack?:
Can't hack at all. In fact she can barely even manage her own electronic journal and will probably end up broadcasting everything by accident. Or turning her journal on and forgetting to turn it off afterward.

Weaknesses:
While Oichi's black hands have the strength of nearly two fully grown, physically fit men combined, Oichi's physical body is very frail. She tires easily, and never exerts herself beyond what she can take, content in just letting the black arms support and carry her. Besides her physical body, Oichi's mental state and her emotions are also very frail. The more often she uses her powers, the weaker her grip on reality, thanks to the whispers and voices she hears. When that happens she is a danger to the people around her as well as to herself.
She is only suppressing all her memories of her life before the destruction of her family, she hasn't completely forgotten everything and the thought of losing or being left behind by the things she cares about or relies on is deeply frightening for her. At these times, she will often break down and cry, begging not to be left by herself. People who wish to manipulate her generally take advantage of this fact, making her do what they want by threatening to abandon her if she won't obey. Oichi also takes orders without thinking too much about who is giving them or what they entitle, sometimes at great danger to herself. The only exception she makes to this rule is if she thinks that by following the order she'll be putting herself in a position where she would be left alone.

History:
Oichi is the youngest daughter of a family that runs a gang in the North of Solare and spent most of her early life as if she were a painting, more interesting to look at than furniture, but infintely less useful. Her only purpose in the family was as a bartering chip, because what she lacked in ambition and ruthlessness she made up for with her helpless-looking sweetness and her pretty face. She had an older brother whom she idolized (more out of habit, him being her only older brother than out of any real fondness). When Oichi was seven years old, her father received a gift: an offering from a rival gang, a shiny stone about the size of Oichi's fist. Both Oichi and her brother were strictly warned not to touch it, think of touching it, or think of asking anyone else to take it for them so they could touch it. But the warning proved to be useless because two days after the stone arrived in their house, Oichi was ordered to take the stone. Being small and often ignored, Oichi found getting to the stone to be an easy task. On touching the stone however, everything disappeared into darkness.

When Oichi regained consciousness, she found herself locked in a room as punishment for her disobedience. Her father, finding that the stone had not seemed to affect her in the least, had the stone sent back to his rivals and exacted his vengeance for daring to make a fool of him with a so-called "experimental, man-made mana stone". Indeed, Oichi seemed fine, the same obedient self as she had always been. Until Oichi heard someone whispering that, really, it was a shame she was so unlike the other members of her family, always so obedient. So obedient and useless, they said. If someone had tried to order any other member of the family around, that someone would be punished, they said. Punished severely, they said, tittering and whispering in her ear. When they found her in her room later, the walls were painted with blood and the only thing the sole survivor said that they could make out was, "Hands. Everywhere. Black hands." Until Oichi silenced him because the whispers told her to.

Despite her new powers, she was still very much the meek, obedient child everyone knew. Using this to their advantage, her family stressed to the young Oichi that she should always obey their commands because they only wanted the best for her.

When Oichi reached marriageable age, her family decided to forge an alliance with one of the noble families in the South, on a tip that this family had designs on "improving" the North of Solare. Oichi was sent on the surface, as a peace offering, and in reality to spy on her husband, the head of that family. Despite the fact that Oichi's husband learned not long after their marriage that she was a spy, he never let her feel unwanted or ignored in his house. If Oichi was pushed into a dark corner by everyone else, he would take her hand, grumbling all the while, and pull her back into the light introducing her as his wife. So when his plans finally came to fruition, and Oichi's family decided to take action, Oichi chose for the first time in her life. Waking up one day to screaming and her new home burning, her brother standing over her, telling her to choose: life with her real family, or death with this new family, she chose to stay with him, the one who had pulled her from the darkness, till the end. She closed her eyes, certain that her brother wouldn't spare her. At the last moment, to Oichi's horror, her husband was killed instead while trying to protect her.

Oichi was taken back home with her brother, and never stopped blaming herself for her husband's death. She was certain that if she hadn't disobeyed her brother and chosen to die, her husband wouldn't have tried to protect her and could have gotten away. Not caring anymore about her own well-being and obedient to the point of subservience, she was used as a killer, a solver of difficult problems. All they had to do was point her in the right direction and tell her to kill everyone she saw.
What her family didn't know was that she was hearing the voices again the more she used her powers, and they were encouraging her to obey her orders: to kill everyone. Oichi's mental health deteriorated as she was haunted day and night by the memories of her husband's death as well as the horrible things she had to do, things her husband would never have wanted her to do, certain that her husband would never forgive her.

Eventually, Oichi's hold on sanity snapped, and she succumbed to the whispers. The family wanted her to kill "everyone". Didn't her family also count as "everyone"? Of course they did. So Oichi moved on to her family, killing both her brother's wife and his young adopted son. With the fall of her family, and the burning down of their base of operations, everyone assumed that Oichi had perished along with her brother. Until stragglers from the gang discovered Oichi wandering by herself in Solare many months later, singing nonsense songs and obviously completely out of her mind.

Oichi could not recall their names, and when pressed, could barely recall her own name. She had had a brother? A husband? What husband? All she knew was that she was looking for something she had lost. She knew she had lost it, she could feel the empty place it had left behind in her heart. But she couldn't remember what it was, what it looked like, what its name was. Just that it was warm, like the sun.

While it was inconvenient for the remaining members of the gang that the only surviving member of the family spent half her time crying and the rest of the time looking for invisible animals, they were able to turn it to their advantage. It was true that Oichi could remember nothing, and had no knowledge of how the gang worked, but she still understood one thing: killing. And she had, if it was even possible, become even better at it because she often forgot when to stop hurting people.

All was peaceful and more or less functional, but before their fall the gang had done many bad things. Which would have been okay if the gang's numbers hadn't dwindled after the fall, and their leader hadn't died in a fire. Many of their enemies saw this as the perfect opportunity to take revenge, starting fights and chipping away at the gang's territories until they were forced to run from Solare or risk being found floating face down in the river. Somewhere in all the commotion, Oichi lost the rest of her "family", but seemed to have heard someone shouting at her to go meet them, getting cut off before they could tell her where. Oichi, obediently, went off looking for them, certain that she would find them but as days turned into weeks, she became more and more depressed and less certain.

It was in a tiny town near Tulgim that she met someone who suggested that she try increasing the radius of her search. And what better way than to travel by air, they said, pointing up at the sky towards a passing airship.

SAMPLES-
Third Person (roleplay):
The little girl looked up from what to Oichi looked like a happy family of happy little dolls, living such happy, little lives at Oichi who laughed with a girly giggle that would have made adults try to get away as fast as they could.

"How cute. Are they happy?"

She tilted her head and her smile turned a little manic at the edges.

"What if they all ran away and the little chick was the only one left? Would you be happy, little chick?"

Soft tendrils of black smoke drifted around them, dark shadows turning into the shape of many clawed hands before dissapating. Not yet, not yet.

"Would you be happy if it was all your fault?"

The little girl considered her dolls for a moment, "No. I would be sad."

Oichi stopped, and the black smoke retreated, "Sad. Ichi would be sad too. Ichi is all alone, everyone leaves to some place where Ichi can't find them. All alone. All alone. Ichi is all alone."
She covered her face with her hands.

A quiet voice spoke then, bringing Oichi back to the present, "Maybe you're not looking in the right place."

Oichi wandered down the dusty, deserted road, swaying periodically from side to side and singing words to herself that made no sense.

"Twinkle, twinkle, little bird. La la la...Flying away...So far..."

She was heading towards Kropmork Nakh, certain she would find what she was looking for. It would be there. It had to be there. Because she was looking in the right place now.

First Person (journal):

Mister Box? Are you working? [tapping sounds]

Hmm...Ichi can't tell if you don't say anything, Mister Box.

Eh? Jour...nal? Ichi's...? Everyone can hear what Ichi is saying?

Then, Ichi should introduce herself. Ichi is...Ichi. Nice to...make your acquaintance, Mister Everyone.
