Storm
A short animated film of a ten minute Tim Minchin beat poem/science rant.

Naomi Novik's baby.
It's a cute baby. It's got a dragon.

Gneils blog today is particularly full of cool things.
Including the whole Wondercon Doctor Who panel with Badger Sterling apparently Crowley but not that Crowley Mark Sheppard and one of the directors which is lovely, and a songwriting thing he's doing with AFP, and a little story about being stuck at Liverpool Street Station when he was 16, and bonus Ian Dury.

I rewatched V for Vendetta last night, and it was still a good film, and Natalie Portman is still good in it, but holy crap I didn't remember her accent being that bad. I mean it was AWFUL. Particularly when she's talking to Hugo Weaving who's doing a perfectly good Standard Slightly Posh or Stephen Fry who is THE MOST ENGLISH OF ANYTHING EVER. Also, had a couple of slightly weird casting moments when Glenn Beck Prothero turned out to be Peter Mannion MP and one of the fascist lackeys was Patrick out of Coupling, which I hadn't noticed last time.

The children's bestseller list in the Bookseller is starting to slightly perturb me again - Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a perfectly good series and certainly much less worrying than Twilight, but I still have to look a bit askance when six out of the top ten places are Wimpy Kid books.

Random book trivia: The Light Fantastic has lost its Evergreen bookscan status - until last month, it had been in the top 5000 bestselling books every week since records began (which is only 1995, but still). Last week it only sold 89 copies (which - seeing as it's now 22 years old and generally not one of the more popular Discworld books - is pretty amazing actually) so it fell off the bottom of the chart. Apparently The Colour of Magic is still up there though.

Yesterday my boss summoned one of the owners of the company across the office by baaa-ing like a sheep. Your argument is invalid.
