I'm engaged!
This is not, precisely, a new state of affairs because we have had an Understanding for about six years. But
anotherusedpage and I went out to Sketch on Thursday for an Official Putting Rings On It Dinner, and now I have a beautiful semi-antique (late 40s, we think) diamond monstrosity which glimmers and twinkles and is amazing, and I gave Jessie
this, which if anything looks even prettier in real life. There will be pictures soon, as soon as I've found the connecting cable for my phone.
We finally have a kitchen table! I've just assembled it. And four chairs, two of which are done. They're neither the most comfortable chairs in the world nor the most uncomfortable. I'm probably going to try to put together the other chairs/arrange things a bit before I leave. It's so awesome - I put my lunch on the table and then I sat at the table and ate my lunch! On a table!
In an hour or so I'm heading off to (possibly-probably) do a Christmas concert in the Festival Hall. It's the Philharmonia doing a Raymond Gubbay gig, and they needed extra singers in a hurry so Jessie and I are going along. I'm starting to really hope that all is as expected and we do get to do the concert, because I've seen the running order and it's an almost-perfect mixture of songs and carols... the big schmaltzy numbers, green book carols, and In Dulci Jubilo and The Shepherd's Farewell, which are two of my favourites. And I do not do nearly enough carol singing these days. So hopefully that will be happening this evening.
And then there's another Dr Who recording next Sunday - I've been asked and volunteered so I hope I get to do it. It's only five days before the Christmas episode and we know that we've already done bits from the New Year's Day episode (he spoilers spoiler in the spoiler), so... last minute additions? Matt Smith episode bits? Nobody knows! It's a bit exciting.
Remember that five questions meme I posted? I totally forgot to say that people could ask me for questions! I'm not very good at coming up with good ones but I'll try, for anyone who comments to this post mentioning my epic Lightning-in-a-Santa-hat icon.
I have a shiny new Windows-7-running computer! I have copied over all my old documents and, geekily, I'm quite looking forward to organising them all properly. Also, my Dad bought me the Sims 3 for Christmas, and he's already installed it on this computer! I have a dilemma now though, because I really shouldn't play with it until Christmas, but... it's right there. I might ask Jessie to hide the disc from me for a while.
Now I'm going to build another chair and possibly wrap a present or two. :D
