"Dude, it's way harder to hitchhike then you made it out to be.
I started from the outskirts of Bangkok, equipped with a piece of paper saying in Thai "Can I ride with you?" and "I am trying to go to Ranong" 80% of people that picked me up thought I was dying on the side of the road, 60% thought that "I want to go to " meant "Please take a U-Turn, drive me back to the city I just came from, and drop me off at the bus station", 30% of people offered me money, 10% of people offered me sex. In short, expectation was far from reality on people *understanding* that I just wanted a ride. I can't count how many times people drove by and thought (through action) I was saying "Hello, I am your Rt. 4 Falung greeter. Welcome to Route 4. Please feel free to honk and wave at me, as I am actually being paid to stand here in the hot weather looking destitute."
