Funny how you say that people seem to love Rose when I heard there was a big backlash because Billie has been acting like an idiot IRL. "Trying to be the Britney Spears of England" has been thrown about a few times. I am also not sure about how she was received prior to "Secret Diary of a London Call Girl", but I thought the show was sub par, even for a Friday night Showcase line-up.
Also, companions never should be true love interests, IMHO. It is one of the nice character flaws that The Doctor has. I hope they don't break that tradition. I think they are going back to the root of the idea of a companion with Donna (who reminds me a lot of Sarah Jane in her day).
Oh, the reference was brilliant. I died laughing. I just found the first half to be a lot wittier than the second. It is hard when you get REALLY good episodes, AMAZING episodes and good episodes. It dulls the good episodes a bit.
Don't get too mad at me for saying so, but I feel the way they are bringing her back is TOO obvious. The first time it wasn't that bad but this time...it wasn't a blip on the screen (which, ideally, if I had a say, would have been my choice). It was a few seconds of her screaming, what I lip read as "DOCTOR!" And why didn't Donna notice? It felt like a bit too much of an afterthought they threw in during post production. I do think it is smart that the Doctor hasn't been the witness to her popping up, because, obviously, he would be doing something about it.
