No matter, it doesn't matter

Emily drove Katherine and I back to her house after the show. Once we arrived, I grabbed my backpack from my car intending to stay the night. We watched TV for a bit and they fell asleep. I wasn't that sleepy so I decided to just head back up the mountain and get a good night sleep in my own bed. Besides, I had to work in the morning and didn't want to be rushed when I awoke. I gathered up all my stuff but just couldn't find my keys anywhere. I never lose my keys, I just don't. I looked all over, careful not to wake the girls, but they were nowhere to be found. I figured I must have locked them in my car, but upon inspection with a flashlight, they weren't visible. Maybe I left them under that jacket on the passenger seat? I searched the ground from the car to the house and again through my backpack and around the living room. Still no keys.

Eventually I called "Pop-A-Lock" to come slimjim my car open. The lock guy had the car open in a flash but my keys were not in the car! I thanked the guy sincerely for coming out on New Year's and paid him his $65 plus $10 tip, everything I had made that day at the Brewery. On the plus side, this narrowed my search to the living room only. I went back to the house and found Emily's roomate and friends just home from the show. I explained the situation and asked would they mind just looking around a bit. Just then, the girl on the couch reached between the cushions and pulled out my keys: "Are these them?" I felt pretty stupid but did not fail to see the humor in searching for a half hour, waiting for a locksmith for another 45 minutes, and shelling out $75 for absolutely nothing, only to have someone nimbly reach into a sofa and extract my keys from it's midst. Funny, but I wasn't bothered with it at all, not in the least. I honestly chuckled out loud to myself as I started my car up. I'm sure it had everything to do with my meeting Leighanne earlier, it was going to take a lot more to stifle my good mood, that's for sure. I didn't even feel the cold in my heatless car on the way up the mountain.
